Edmonton is an awesome place to visit, and is especially great in the summer! This is my absolute favourite time of year here, the sun is shining, the trees and grass are so green and it is just absolutely amazing. Find out the top 5 things to do in Edmonton in summer!

1. Explore The Edmonton River Valley
There are so many incredible trails that run through the River Valley, it’s an absolutely beautiful place to explore in the summer. Try to find the elusive River Valley Swing down by the river, take photos by the boat launch and really pretty dock at Sir Wilfred Laurier Park, or pack a picnic and just enjoy the summer air – the River Valley is a great place to spend your time.
2. See the Animals at the Valley Zoo
An awesome place to take the family, spend the day at the Valley Zoo! Visit the animals at the zoo, learn about them, and overall just have a good time! The zoo is mainly outside, which makes it a great thing to do in Edmonton in summer.
3. Learn About the Past at Fort Edmonton Park
Fort Edmonton Park is an awesome place to visit in Edmonton in the summer. Filled with so much history, this is a great place to spend the day and transport yourself back in time to the fur trade days and an early city!
4. Ride the Cable Car
This is an activity that makes Edmonton so unique to visit in the summer. There is a Cable Car that runs above the High Level Bridge, offering amazing views of the North Saskatchewan River, the River Valley, and Downtown Edmonton. It’s really cool because people can even get married here 🙂 .
5. Check out an Edmonton Farmers Market
You can’t visit Edmonton in the summer and not go to a Farmers Market! Shop local and find great souvenirs or delicious snacks to enjoy. The best farmer’s markets to check out in Edmonton are the Downtown Farmers Market, or the Old Strathcona Farmers Market just off of Whyte Avenue.
6. Explore the University of Alberta Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens are actually located a little bit outside of Edmonton, but it’s an awesome way to spend a summer morning or afternoon! Wander the gardens and enjoy being surrounded by stunning nature. And do not forget to take your camera with you – there are so many great photo opportunities here!
