Hi, I’m Kat! A part-time traveler based in Alberta, Canada.
I am from Alberta, Canada and I have always had a love for travel and a sense of adventure.
When I first started travelling (without my parents) and trying to plan my own trips, I found it incredibly difficult to find useful information to help with trip-planning.
After travelling and figuring a lot of things out on my own, I created this website to not only document my travels, but also to help others plan their travels and see the world!
My whole life I have lived around 4 hours from the Canadian Rockies, and every summer I try not to travel internationally, but instead I like to spend a ton of time in both Banff National Park and Jasper National Park hiking, camping, and just exploring the mountains! In the Spring, Fall, and Winter, I love to visit the mountains every chance I get and explore my favourite spots to see the differences between seasons.

The Canadian Rockies are one of the most beautiful places to visit in the world, and my other goal with this website is to help you plan your trip to the Rockies (Banff, Jasper, and beyond) and share everything this magical place has to offer, no matter the season!
My International Travel Story
Growing up I had gone on family holidays to Mexico usually once a year in the Spring, but my first trip without my parents was in the Spring of 2014 after my first year of university when I was 18! My friend and I took the train all throughout Europe – and my love for adventure was discovered.

Throughout university, I would spend most of my year working and saving up my money to take a trip by the time Spring rolled around. It was an endless cycle of saving from July – April, and traveling in May – June, averaging one big trip each year.
So far, I have been all around Europe (2014 & 2016 & 2023), Africa on a University Study Abroad Exchange (2017), Peru/Bolivia/Chile (2018), Cuba (2019), and because of the pandemic – I was unable to travel internationally in 2020! Throughout 2020 and 2021 I spent time in Banff and Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies – a place I am SO lucky to call home!
In 2021, I also headed out on a family trip to Mexico (my first international trip once travel started opening back up! 🙂 ). In December 2022 & January 2023, I FINALLY made it back to Europe on a 2 week trip through Amsterdam, Belgium, and Paris. My most recent trip was travelling through Scotland and Italy this past July, 2024!
One day I hope I’ll finally be able to make it to Asia (my dream in 2020!).

Before the pandemic hit, I had A TON of plans to travel in 2020 – I graduated from university in 2020 and was ready to spend a lot of the year abroad. Because the pandemic hit though and travel became not that possible (from a safety and responsibility perspective) – I decided to progress in my career as a teacher (which is what I went to school for!).
My Big Bucketlist Destinations include – seeing the Pyramids of Giza and scuba diving in Egypt, visiting Kathmandu in Nepal and visiting the Taj Mahal in India, exploring the Philippines, and seeing the hot air balloons of Cappodocia, Turkey!
I also just LOVE Europe – I will jump at the chance to visit anywhere in Europe if a cheap flight pops up at the right time 🙂

I started this blog to share my travels, my tips, and my adventures – which will hopefully inspire others to travel and help to plan their trip!

Frequently Asked Questions
These are some of my most asked questions. If you still have questions – send me a message on Instagram or contact me (info above!).
What camera gear do you use?
My current camera gear that I bring on my travels is the Sony A7Rii and the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 lens.
I also use my iPhone 14 Pro to capture photos as well as videos, and I usually bring my cheap little film camera to play around with as well (Ilford Sprite 35-II and Kodak ISO 200 film or Fujifilm ISO 400 film).
Before upgrading to my Sony & Sigma, I used an Olympus OMD-EM10 Mark ii and Olympus 12-40mm lens to take photos. Some of the older blog posts on my websites were shot with this set up!
Are you a part-time or full-time traveler?
I am a part-time traveller – I currently have a full-time job as an Early Childhood Educator, so I only travel internationally on extended time off (winter break, spring break, or summer break). I also try to take weekend trips to Banff and Jasper often as well.
Are you a solo traveler?
The only time I have travelled solo was in 2017 on my way to Africa, to study abroad with my school. I was only alone during my flights, as once I arrived I was with a group of people again! (although I didn’t know anyone on the trip beforehand).
I would love to travel solo – but typically my boyfriend joins me on my trips! I do all of the planning and I’m lucky that he’s always in for the ride.
Sometimes if it’s an early morning and he doesn’t want to get up, I’ll go out early on my own and take photos/enjoy the city before the crowds start to accumulate.
Long story short I am not a solo traveler 🙂
How do you plan your trips?
I do a ton of research before my trips! You can read my process on how I plan a trip to Europe (which is similar to the process for trip planning to other continents as well), and these are the websites I use to research and plan my trips.
What are your best travel tips?
- Always book flights directly through the airline, but find the cheapest airline to fly with using Google Flights.
- Have a paper copy of important documents, booking confirmations, and tickets. You never know if your phone will randomly die or get stolen (and then you’re hooped!).
- Take pictures but don’t forget to look with your own two eyes as well, and just take in the moment.
- Don’t let things going wrong ruin your trip, instead embrace them and figure out how to navigate them.
- Don’t skip something you really want to do because it’s too expensive. Think to yourself if you’ll ever be back there again. Maybe spend more on the once in a lifetime experience and have a PB&J sandwich for supper that night to re-coop the cost.

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 I appreciate your support!
