The Pravcicka Gate, otherwise known as the Pravčická Brána Archway, is located in Bohemian Switzerland – a beautiful region in the Czech Republic right by the German border. It is an amazing part of the country to hike and explore, with unique rock formations and landscapes, and amazing views.

How to Get to the Pravcicka Gate
To hike to Pravcicka Gate, first take the train to Hřensko, Czech Republic. It’s about a 2 hour train ride from Dresden, Germany, 3 hours from Prague, and 4.5 hours from Berlin.
Once you’re in Hrensko, you can take a little riverboat ferry to cross the river, and catch a shuttle bus up to the Mezní Louka neighborhood. This is where the trailhead is located.
How Long is the Hike?
The hike to the top takes about an hour and a half (depending on how often you stop for pictures and your fitness level!). At the top, there are quite a few areas and viewpoints to explore, and a cafe with picnic tables to enjoy lunch before heading back down!
Where to Stay
We stayed overnight at U Fořta, to ensure we weren’t rushed to get back and catch a train. It’s also really nice to have somewhere comfortable to spend the night after hiking 🙂 . I recommend staying at U Forta, it was a nice place with little haylofts to sleep in.
